India’s economy to grow at 7.7% in 2012, 7.9% in 2013: UN

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">India's economic growth rate will  remain subdued at 7.7 percent in 2012 and 7.9 percent in 2013 as  downside risks have increased, mainly on account of problems in Europe  and the USA, says a UN report. </span></li>
</ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">The government recently lowered the GDP growth target for the  current fiscal to 7 percent from the earlier estimate of 8.5 percent.<span><span>     </span><br />

</ul><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">However, the study gave a positive outlook on South Asia's economic  growth prospects and projected that the region's economies will grow by  6.7 percent and 6.9 percent in 2012 and 2013, respectively, accelerating  beyond the 6.5 percent growth rate experienced in 2011.<span>     </span></span> </li>
</ul><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">South Asia constitutes India, Pakistan, Nepal, Iran, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.<span>     </span></span> </li>

Gujarat HC rejects contempt plea against Modi

</ul><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">Researchers at The University of Western Australia's Centre for  Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis (CMCA) identified the  mineral.  </span></li>
</ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Tranquillityite</strong>, named after the Sea of  Tranquillity, where the Apollo 11 moon-walkers landed in July 1969, was  tentatively identified by Birger Rasmussen, professor from Curtin  University, while studying a polished slice of earthly rock in a  scanning electron microscope, according to a Western Australia  statement.  </span></li>
</ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">To confirm the identity of the Pilbara mineral, Muhling analysed its  composition by collecting X-rays emitted when the sample was targeted  by an electron beam in the electron microscope. </span></li>
</ul><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">This showed that the terrestrial mineral was made up of the same  elements as lunar tranquillityite. Electron diffraction showed that the  two minerals have the same crystal structure.  </span></li>
</ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">Previously, tranquillityite was thought to exist only in returned  moon samples and lunar - and possibly Martian - meteorites. The  researchers believe tranquilliltyite is the final 'lunar' mineral to be  found on earth because it is rare, small and prone to change. </span></li>

</ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">Besides Yeddyurappa and Somanna, the latter's wife had also sought  relief in the case. Earlier, the court sought clarifications from  complainant Ravi Krishnareddy on the credibility of his complaint and  why he had chosen a particular instance of land denotification when such  denotifications had also been done by previous governments.  </span></li>
</ul><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div><ul style="text-align: justify;"><li><span style="font-size: small;">Krishna Reddy has alleged that Somanna secured denotification of 22  guntas (one gunta is about 1,086 sq ft) of land in Nagadevanahalli in  Kengeri Hobli for an educational institution run by his wife Shailaja in  violation of rules when Yeddyurappa was chief minister. </span></li>
