In Lebanon, at least 26 people died when a five-storey building collapsed in Ashrafiyeh district in Beirut. Officials said today that rescuers were continuing their search for a 16 people believed to be buried beneath the rubble.
At least 12 people were injured when the building, said to house around 50 people, came down unexpectedly on Sunday evening.
The victims included eight Sudanese, two Filipinos, two Egyptians and two Jordanians. The cause of the sudden collapse is not yet known.
