Government has sanctioned financial assistance worth nearly eight crore rupees for training of elite athletes for the forthcoming London Olympics 2012.
According to an official release, the assistance sanctioned is towards extensive training abroad, engagement of personal coaches both foreign and Indian and scientific back-up in terms of sports psychologists and physiotherapists among other things.
Forty five sportspersons and twelve coaches and supporting staff will be given the finacial aid. The Sports Ministry has allocated the money from the National Sports Development Fund.
