• The Enforcement Directorate has issued a foreign exchangeviolation notice to Internet giant Google for alleged irregularities in transfer of funds to its foreign entities.
  • The ED has asked the Indian arm of the company to explain to it all the permissions the company has obtained from the Reserve Bank of India in this regard and its source of income in the country along with I-T returns filed earlier.
  • The agency has obtained relevant data in this regard from the RBI and would take up any possible penal action under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) after going through the documents

  • The Directorate General of Economic Enforcement  is a law enforcement agency and economic intelligence agency responsible for enforcing economic laws and fighting economic crime in India. It is part of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. It comprises officers of the Indian Revenue Service. It was established on the 1st day of June, 2000 by the Central Govt. of India to investigate provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999.
