• The General Officer in Commanding, Northern Command Lt.Gen. K.T. Parnaik has said that about 300 terrorists are still waiting at the launching pads to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from across the Line of Control. 
  • Speaking on the sidelines of the Investiture Ceremony of Northern Command on Army Day at Akhnoor near Jammu today, he said, as many as 2500 terrorists are getting training in various terrorist camps still intact in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Pakistan. However,Lt.Gen. Parnaik said that the Army is fully prepared to meet any eventuality from across the border.
  • About the Line of Actual Control (LoAC) with China, the Army Commander said that the situation is completely under control and in view of frequent usual transgression the Confident Building Measures between the two countries are in progress normally.
  • Answering a question on the issue of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) in the State, General Parnaik said that being an issue of National Security the matter is being discussed between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence adding that once the discussions are over, a fruitful decision in this regard would be worked out. 
  • Earlier the GoC in C honoured the army personnel of various ranks with a variety of medals for their distinguished services.
