- Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh announced that a centre for Malaviya studies will be set up at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
- Addressing a function in New Delhi to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya, Dr. Singh said a digital collection of Dr. Malaviya's writings would also be compiled for the first time.
- The Prime Minister also informed the Government plans to establish chairs, scholarships and education related awards in his name.
- Mr.Madan Mohan Malviya had played a vital role in the formation of Indian National Congress & was elected president four times.
- Madan Mohan Malaviya always fought for women empowerment and against untouchability.
- Ms Sonia Gandhi released a biography of Madan Mohan Malaviya in Hindi and English. The Prime minister also released a commemorative postal stamp.
