M.S. Dhoni will miss the Adelaide Test after being penalised for India's slow over-rate in the third Test here at the WACA. India bowled 76 overs in 362 minutes, which was two overs short of the required rate.
Allowances were made for the ten wickets that fell and interruptions for movement behind the sight screen and injury time-outs, but India was still found short.
This was Dhoni's second such transgression as Indian captain. He had been on notice after India was found short in Barbados in June-July last year.
He pleaded guilty at the hearing with match referee Ranjan Madugalle and accepted the one-Test ban.
Dhoni was fined 40 per cent of his match fees, and the rest of the team was docked 20 per cent each.
