Energy, economy high on PM's agenda in Russia

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><ul><li style="text-align: justify;"> Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said India would seek to substantially expand bilateral trade with Russia from the current $8.5 billion, while enhancing ties in a host of areas such as defence, energy, space technology and health.

<li style="text-align: justify;"> Bilateral trade amounted to $8.535 billion in 2010, witnessing a 15 percent growth from 7.46 billion in 2009. 
 
 </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> The two countries in 2009 decided to set a target of $20 billion worth of bilateral trade by 2015 with a focus on the fields of energy, pharmaceuticals, IT, steel, hydrocarbons, aerospace and agriculture.

US to certify Indian NGOs

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><ul><li style="text-align: justify;"> Amid concern over some NGOs misusing foreign aid, the US is preparing an online searchable database containing a vetted list of transparent and accountable Indian non-government bodies so that philanthropists can safely donate funds to them.

<li style="text-align: justify;"> The database would facilitate tax deductible donations to organisations in India. 
 
 </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> The State Department is working with a non-profit group called GuideStar India to create the online tool 
 
 </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> GuideStar India provides information of over 1000 NGOs in India in an easy to search fashion to help users connect quickly with organisation(s) working in the area of their choice, the organisation said on its website

Panetta landed in the Iraqi capital for the ceremony officially ending the military mission here and closing out a bloody and controversial chapter of American relations with the Islamic world.

<li style="text-align: justify;"> The tenor of the farewell ceremony, officially called "Casing the Colors,” was likely to sound an uncertain trumpet for a war that was launched to rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction it did not have and now ends without the sizable, enduring American military presence for which many officers had hoped. 
 
 </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">  The final American combat troops withdraw from Iraq by Dec. 31, under rules of an agreement with the Baghdad government, a few hundred military personnel and Pentagon civilians will remain, working within the American Embassy as part of an Office of Security Cooperation to assist in arms sales and training. 
 
 </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"> The war was launched by the Bush administration in March 2003 on arguments that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and had ties to Al Qaeda that might grow to an alliance threatening the United States with a mass-casualty terror attack.

Datawind, the maker of the tablet, has put up the tablet for sale online. Priced at Rs 2,500, the tablet is said to be delivered within seven days

<li style="text-align: justify;">  Powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo) OS, the 7-inch tablet has a resistive touch screen. The tablet weighs 350g and has 256 MB of RAM. The device has a Arm11 – 366Mhz microprocessor and a 2100mAh battery. It supports only Wi-Fi network.

<li style="text-align: justify;"> However the upgraded version of Aakash, called the Ubislate 7, is scheduled to be launched late January.
