- The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced that the December 22, the birthday of Mathematical Genius Srinivas Ramanujan, will be celebrated as the National Mathematics Day every year and 2012 as the National Mathematical Year.
- This year the 125th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Ramanujan were held in Chennai.
