Government has taken an initiative to patent the indigenous knowledge of tribals and products manufactured by them with the help of natural resources under the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today, Tribal Affairs Minister V Kishore Chandra Deo said his Ministry has already started the process of recording several forest products and indigenous knowledge of the tribals and has sought assistance from the state governments in this regard. Mr Deo clarified, that products which are natural or have been gifted by nature cannot be included in this list.
