• In Lebanon, at least 26 people died when a five-storey building collapsed in Ashrafiyeh district in Beirut. Officials said today that rescuers were continuing their search for a 16 people believed to be buried beneath the rubble.
  • At least 12 people were injured when the building, said to house around 50 people, came down unexpectedly on Sunday evening.
  • The victims included eight Sudanese, two Filipinos, two Egyptians and two Jordanians. The cause of the sudden collapse is not yet known.
