The Defence Ministry has given its consent for bringing the Armed Forces within the ambit of the Whistleblower's Bill under consideration of the Government.
A Parliamentary committee had recently recommended bringing the Armed Forces and security and intelligence agencies under the purview of the Public Interest Disclosure and Protection to Persons Making the Disclosures Bill, 2010, commonly known as the Whistleblower's Bill
The bill seeks to establish a mechanism to receive complaints regarding allegations of corruption or wilful misuse of power. It was introduced in the Lok Sabha in August, 2010.
